The true gem of Disney+ (and the thing that made me get it) is The Imagineering Story, and I will hear no arguments otherwise.

I’ve worked in a couple movie theaters. There is no hell quite like it. Especially the Rocky Horror Picture Show act along divas. Talk about a group that should drown in a minivan…my home theater is way better on all fronts and with no cable/satellite I can afford more options than I have time to consume. It is wonderful, and there will always be a place for cinemas, it’s not HBO or D+ that will kill them. Anybody who hates their family or is not wearing a cross needs something to do Christmas Day

Hiring a musician with “a take” on jazz would be terrible regardless of their race. Reznor & Ross’ jazz happens to be garbage. So does the idea that the race of the composer of the score correspond to the race of the main character.

thiscity suggested that Reznor should have written the score not Baptiste. Learn to read.

Ehh, I wouldn’t say it’s radicalizing jazz to say its an African-American art-form considering it it’s infancy America actively tried to stamp it out with many of the white practitioners catching flack from other white musicians since it was seen as ‘lesser’.

While I have no problem with white jazz players who have added a shitload to the genre and I am looking forward to Trent flexing new wings, it’s odd to see someone get mad at ‘racializing’ jazz as if it was this kumbaya moment during Jim Crow, lol.

Really love you trying to racialize both this movie and jazz as a whole (some of the greats were *GASP* white!) and at the same time conveniently forgetting Jon Baptiste was most of the Jazz in the film whereas Reznor and Ross took on the rest of the score in all this. Grow up, will you. You’re tiresome.

I love their music, too. But–if I were making a movie whose protagonist is an African-American jazz musician… I’d hire an African-American jazz composer, not someone who has a take on jazz.

That’s not how that song goes at all.

The quality of D+ streams is almost always higher than Disney DVDs, too, and usually on par with the Blu-Ray releases. (I have 2 kids and no money.)

I don’t even like to look at a film’s title. Usually that gives too much away.

I got it specifically to watch golden-age Simpsons and that’s really all I have used it for. I give no fucks about Star Wars and I do not like Taylor Swift. I guess I watched Hamilton. It was okay. . Essentially I give Disney money each month to not have to resort to pulling out my DVDs. And you know what? Worth it. I have 3 money and no kids.

Everyone should cancel their HBOMax subscriptions and not support their efforts to destroy movie theaters.

it’s way cheaper (and safer) to pay for one month of disney+ than it would be to see this in a theater. That said, once all this is over I’m worried what this means for the existence of movie theaters, because typically I much prefer that experience to watching at home, but that’s another conversation entirely
