Anyone else find it kind of sad that not all that long ago seeing Wayne Coyne at the VMAs wouldn’t seem so out of place? There just doesn’t seem to be any room at the table for the rock/psych/indie/alt/whatever-you-want-to-call-it folks anymore. That bums me out.

But The Dixie Chicks put out a very good album (even if it was far from their best) in a moment where they were cherished by the liberal media. I’ll forever be citing Beck’s snoozer of an indie-folk album winning over BEYONCÉ – BEYONCÉ as why the Grammys are totally devoid of meaning.

Taylor maybe has a human under her sparkly armor, but it’s hard to say. I just someone at iTunes leaks her purchase history and outs her as a fake.

Miley says she’s gender fluid & pansexual — so basically “ain’t no thing” when it comes to sex. Her performance last night skewed heavily weeded Deeee-Lite-core drag queen. I’d say, tho, whether he intended to or not, Bieber — at the show & in the video — perfected a gender fluid presentation. He’s beautifully androgynous & makes effortless transitions between feminine and masculine.

The Bieber thing is almost endearing to me if it’s real. It’s like he realized “holy shit my career’s–and I’m–not dead.” But I also view it as a temporary reprieve from the inevitable crash that’s coming for him and nearly already claimed him. The kind of hopeful moment that makes you think, maybe this time it’ll work even when you already know where the path is headed. It’s basically the end of Eternal Sunshine only with Diplo, Skrillex, and music.

Look, I’m not saying his speech/rant wasn’t pretty all over the place, but there are definitely moments of truth in it and this is one.

I’ve seen so many people talking about the Miley/Nicki thing and I’m so confused? Can these people not see Nicki’s big ass smile right before the camera cuts to Miley on her stage? I thought Nicki was serious for about the 2 seconds before I saw the smile. So obviously manufactured.
