The latest debate comes courtesy of a tweet from the Doc himself. In a surprisingly short and to the point tweet, Doc simply states that snipers should be a one-hit or one-shot kill in any video game, as long as the shot is a headshot. Dr Disrespect normally plays Battle Royale or FPS titles such as Call of Duty: Warzone on his YouTube feeds, and with his tweet garnering over 150,000 likes since he posted it, his words caught the attention of many gamers like him.

A few of the notable names that spoke were professionals Call of Duty: Warzone player IceManIsaac and professional Call of Duty League pitcher Maven. IceManIsaac argued that a sniper’s one shot potential should only be rewarded if the weapon requires skill while referring to the Kraber of Apex Legends: a much slower weapon but which combines the lack of speed with power. Maven shares a similar sentiment, but clarifies that there need to be tweaks such as implementing bullet drop versus a single shot without proper compromise.

In this sense, two other high-profile personalities shared similar sentiments. Call of Duty personality, ModernWarzone, mentioned there was discussion for both sides of the argument, but agreed with IceManIsaac’s point of view. Well-known Twitch streamer Trainwrecks addressed the overall lack of balance by mentioning how inconsistent the balance of shotguns is in some games compared to the balance of snipers. His words reflect the infamous 725 shotgun of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare who saw five different nerfs and still dominated in some form.

For the most part, the reaction to this tweet sparked a largely positive discussion, with many agreeing with Doc’s position, but with appropriate compromises. With Dr Disrespect’s first title on the horizon, it will be interesting to see if it matches up with his vocal opinions on balancing in video games.
