Superstar Ed Sheeran has revealed that he has made an appearance in the new Netflix movie Red Notice.

Red Notice is billed as a junkyard film and stars Hollywood big names such as Ryan Reynolds, Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot.

Ed opened up about his upcoming role on The Jonathan Ross Show and revealed that his cameo happened because he knew the director, Rawson Marshall Thurber.

However, Ed admitted that filming his role was not as exciting as he initially thought it would be: “He listed the three wonderful people who are in the film.

“I said, ‘It would be great to shoot a scene with them!’ I arrived and they had already pulled their pieces. ”

Ed has never been one to turn down a TV and movie appearance over the years. Throughout his career, Ed has appeared everywhere. From a cameo alongside Maisie Smith in Game of Thrones to the voice of her own Simpsons character.

Ed has even appeared in movies, playing himself in Bridget Jones Baby alongside iconic Renee Zellweger AND he’s even appeared in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Ed, who is currently promoting his fourth studio album ‘=’, will appear on The Jonathan Ross on Saturday, November 6 alongside Michael McIntyre, Aisling Bea, Rob Delaney and Fatiha El-Ghorri.

Red Notice will be available to stream on Netflix on November 12, so watch out for Ed!

Check out Ed Sheeran’s TV and film cameos:

2007 – Britannia High

Long before he was a household name, Ed Sheeran tried his luck auditioning for a boy band on the TV show “Britannia High” in 2007.

At the time, the show was looking for six talented teens to play the lead roles, and 140 applicants from performing arts schools across the country were selected to audition for the show. A young Ed is seen dancing solo to Justin Timberlake’s “Like I Love You,” but judge Arlene Phillips was unimpressed with his moves. She shakes her head and says it’s “not even an option” due to her lack of dance knowledge.

Of course, the clip resurfaced when Ed finally hit the big time (without Britannia High’s help) and still haunts him today.

2014 – Shortland Street

A man of many talents, Ed made his acting debut on the American series Riverdale, when he gave teenage Kane an impromptu guitar lesson on Shortland Street.

2015 – At home and away

A year later, Ed appeared in the Australian soap opera Home and Away. Her character Teddy, one of the children Marilyn (Emily Symons) was taking care of was none other than pop star Ed.

2015 – Not datable

Adding another American comedy series to his acting credentials, Ed appeared in a special LIVE version of Undateable where he performed at an open mic party at the show’s local bar. However, his singing wasn’t enough to impress bar owner Justin who kicked Ed out of the joint without knowing who he is.

2015 – The Bastard Executioner

Ed landed another role in the FX drama, The Bastard Executioner in 2015, playing Sir Cormac, an ambitious and deadly protege of a high-ranking church elder for five episodes.

The series was shot in Ed’s native UK and tells the story of a 14th century warrior whose life is forever changed when a divine messenger begs him to lay down his sword and lead the life of ‘a companion hangman.

2015 – Jumpers for Goalposts: Live at Wembley Stadium

Taking footage from Ed’s X touring in 2015, Jumpers For Goalposts was a home video and concert film.

2016 – Bridget Jones baby

Probably the greatest moment of his career, Ed got the chance to make an appearance in Bridget Jones’s Baby.

He shared his experience with fans on Instagram, writing alongside a selfie of himself with movie star Renee Zellweger: “I spent the day being an actor in Bridget Jones’ new film.
‘I loved it, you will love it too.’

2017 – Game of Thrones

Ed’s dreams came true in 2017 when he was invited to appear in the hit fantasy series Game of Thrones. He played a Lannister soldier in season seven of the hit HBO series, opposite Maisie Williams, a series regular, as Arya Stark.

However, some fans of the show complained that Ed’s appearance was so “dazzling” instead of “subtle.” Ed later said his role on the show was “bittersweet.”

2018 – The Simpsons

Fulfilling another of his childhood dreams (he’s a lucky guy, right), Ed voiced the musical character of Brendan Beiderbecke in the Season 29 episode Haw-Haw Land.

2019 – Yesterday

In 2019, Ed played himself again in Richard Curtis’ film Yesterday, a story about musician Jack wakes up from an accident and discovers that only he knows the Beatles. He then begins to sing the band’s song to become famous. Without spoiling the movie, we see Ed giving Jack some advice.

2019 – Modern Love

Another cameo from the TV series saw Ed appear in episode seven of the Amazon Modern Love series – based on the long-running New York Times column of the same name. Ed played Mick, a homeless person who is cared for by a couple and hangs out wreaking havoc.

2019 – Stars Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Realizing another childhood dream, Ed was fortunate enough to star in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, taking on the role of an alien member of the Resistance, and is also credited on IMDb as a Stormtrooper.

2021 – Red notice

In November 2021, Ed revealed he landed an appearance in the new Netflix movie Red Notice, alongside Ryan Reynolds, Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot.

However, Ed admitted that filming his role was not as exciting as he initially thought it would be: “He listed the three wonderful people who are in the film.
“I said, ‘It would be great to shoot a scene with them!’ I arrived and they had already pulled their pieces. “
