Kendrick Lamar Features Two Fort Worth Landmarks In New ‘N95’ Music Video

Two Fort Worth landmarks play a starring role in an unlikely setting: a music video for Grammy-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar.

From Stockyards to hip-hop, city leaders want Fort Worth to be known as a diverse backdrop for all cultures. And that’s exactly what it’s getting – with the help of a new video from Kendrick Lamar.

You may have heard the Kendrick Lamar Fort Worth buzz. Twitter did.

“The buzz around this video has definitely been really exciting,” said Red Sanders of the Fort Worth Film Commission.

The rap icon hit Fort Worth for his “N-95” music video. The city’s must-see Water Gardens and the Kimball Museum Piano Pavilion are on the world stage.

The Fort Worth Film Commission is credited with realizing the prolific rapper’s vision.

“I was excited when I saw it. Our whole team really did a ton of work to make this happen,” Sanders said. “It was a team and city effort to pull this one off.”

More surprising is that it happened two years ago.

“We had to sign NDAs beforehand, and no one could breathe a word about that,” said Eric Lee, director of the Kimball Art Museum. “He had free reign over the location, and we’re so thrilled the footage was used in the video. It’s fantastic.”

Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker weighed in on Lamar’s video. In a statement, she said, “Film projects like this bring attention to beautiful creative spaces and the immense filmmaking potential of Fort Worth, and they also translate into work for our local professionals and a economic impact for local businesses”.
