Netflix releases trailer for Pete Davidson’s Marmaduke movie

Netflix has just revealed a trailer for their new Marmaduke film. Pete Davidson plays the iconic comic book character. Andrew McMeel Entertainment and Legacy Classics are producing the film. In the animated movie, Marmaduke tries to get into the Westminster dog show, but unfortunately he keeps getting into trouble. If that wasn’t enough, the pup has competition. JK Simmons plays Zeus, a fierce rival for Marmaduke. It will be interesting to see Davidson bounce back from Simmons’ comedic style. In fact, there’s a ton of amazing voice talent for this film. David Koechner from OfficeJason Anthony and Shelby Young will also be there.

On the production side, Mar AZ Dippé will direct the film with Matt Phillip Whelan. Byron Kavanaugh wrote the screenplay for Marmaduke. Storyberry is handling the animation efforts for the Netflix movie. Of course, fans are familiar with Owen Wilson’s 2010 film. It seems set to go in a slightly different direction. Brad Anderson created Marmaduke in 1954 and sadly passed away in 2015. Davidson tackled the challenge of different projects away from Saturday Night Live.

“I’ll be here as long as they let me,” Davidson explained to HEYThis is Lauren Zima. “I think I’m very lucky to be on this show and I’m really lucky to have Lorne Michaels as, you know, not just a mentor and a boss, but a friend. I’ll be there too long as they allow this.”

When it comes to movie projects these days, Davidson is open for SNL his castmates and fans to see him in a more dramatic capacity. He’s been into a few things so far, it’ll be interesting to see where this all leads.

“I think we sent the examiners out this week, so I’m really looking forward to it,” he revealed. He also shared that his mother had seen the film. “Yeah, my mom saw it. It’s a love letter to almost all of my family. My mom, my sister, and my dad,” Davidson revealed. “And she saw it at the screening and she absolutely loved it and it really meant a lot to me. I think we made her proud.”

Netflix recently launched trivial quest on their service, if you’re looking for something to add to pre-movie game night. “Launching April 1st, trivial quest is Netflix’s first daily interactive Q&A series.
