Rithvik Dhanjani reveals how he got introduced to music.

Actor Rithvik Dhanjani is one of the most talented actors and his taste in music is evident in his Instagram posts. Recently, the cartel actor hopped on a yacht, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and played some handpans. For Rithvik, music is synonymous with meditation, and on World Music Day, Pinkvilla spoke exclusively with the actor to hear about his music picks and more. Continue reading:

For Rithvik Dhanjani, music is his comfort zone, and elaborating on this further, he said, “I’ve always said, music to me is my escape. It’s my only comfort zone. This is the place I want to go back to, this is the place I want to go back to when I’m lost, when I’m out of answers, when I literally don’t know what’s going on, I’ll just take my instrument and i will sit with. answers to so many things. For me, music is my consolation, it is my only cushion and thanks to the music i have in my life, i can literally see the rhythm in everything, in the way we work, in the way we talk and walk and see everything. Rhythm is there everywhere and the moment you can identify the rhythm in life, your whole life and its journey becomes musical. And so you are literally dancing through life. You don’t really need to live.

We’ve seen Rithvik enjoy handpans wholeheartedly. Here’s how he got started. “An instrument that I love to play is the handpan. So it came into my life by chance. I remember I was in Berlin in 2018, and we were walking down the street when I saw this man playing of this instrument. The sound coming out of the instrument was beautiful and mesmerizing and I was totally captivated. I don’t know, I stood there for almost 40 minutes to an hour listening to it play. I was totally mesmerized by the aura created by the instrument. that’s when i decided i had to learn this instrument. Double is an instant connection, the handpan was calling me as i walked but the sound captured my thought, it captivated me in those times and I had to I asked the man about it and he told me all about hand pans and even gave me an overview of what it is, where were his origins and some background information,” the actor shared.

Rithvik Dhanjani: Music was never something I actively chose

“Yes, I’ve always been musically inclined but I don’t have anyone I draw inspiration from. Music was never something I actively chose, it was always me who fell back on something for my comfort and peace of mind my first choice was always to be on stage and perform as an actor and do what i do as my job but music is my version and is my conjugate to everything. It was the support system behind everything, whether it was in my acting, whether it was in my dancing. It was always a support and that’s how slowly and steadily I realized at how much I love learning new instruments and how much I love playing those instruments,” said Pavitra Rishta actor.

The kind of music Rithvik likes to play and listen to

“I love listening to all types of music. My playlist includes songs from the 90s like Kishore Da to someone like Prateek Kuhad today. I think my playlist is huge. There are also songs in the playlist that I’ve never heard, but I still would love to. And I love the people in my life who introduce me to amazing music, and I’m grateful there are plenty of them. I don’t have a particular genre that is my favourite. But if I have to, I usually like to play the flute because it’s one of my favorites,” the 33-year-old shared.

When asked who his favorite musician was, Rithvik enthused, “There’s a bunch of people I love to listen to. And Pratik Kuhad is one of them. I love Bruno Mars, John Legend, and ever since ancient times there is Nusrat Saheb, Mehendi Hasan Saheb, Amit Trivedi and many more. There are a variety of musicians that I have fallen in love with. I have a long list of people that I like to listen to, but those are the ones that come to mind right away.”
