Superman and Wonder Woman in a 4 hour film

When editing The Batman, director Matt Reeves decided to cut both Superman and Wonder Woman from his 3-hour feature. But according to rumors, there is a 4 hour version of the movie and it contains references to other DC characters.

After seeing The Batman, most fans would agree that the world would probably feel a little crowded if we had appearances from Superman and Wonder Woman. These characters might even feel out of place in the film’s dark and sinister world.

That said, in 2022, stills and video footage showed both Superman and Wonder Woman on the streets of Gotham. When we take a closer look at the costumes, however, it appears that they are most likely characters dressed in cosplay for Halloween. The costumes look too ridiculous to be anything more than superhero references.

Still, having them appear would most likely hint that Superman and Wonder Woman exist in the world of The Batman. And while that would be interesting, it’s certainly too early to introduce these characters into this universe. In fact, we’d much rather this Batman exist alone in the ReevesVerse.

Most fans who saw the film would have noticed that none of the characters ended up making the final film, meaning they were intentionally cut in the editing room. Matt Reeves has mentioned several times that Warner Bros. had given him complete freedom with the film, which means he probably had the discretion to cut the characters.

Again, this all makes sense when you think about it. Wonder Woman and Superman Probably Didn’t Match The Batman movie. But the other question is whether we’ll ever see the directors’ 4-hour cut of The Batman with them.

In a recent interview with Collider, director Matt Reeves revealed that he has no real interest in adding the Man of Steel to his Batverse. “My thing was, early on, I said, ‘Look, I think you just have to try to make a Batverse, make a Batman movie,’ and that’s where it all starts,” explained Reaves. “I guess it’s not impossible to believe that at some point they might connect to something else, but that wasn’t my interest in that, and that’s not my interest either. for what we would do in the follow-ups at the moment.”

When asked if Superman exists or could exist in the world in future films, Reeves seemed uncertain. “You mean if [Superman] could? Is that what you say? I mean, if something like that happened, because I was very careful about… If suddenly in The Batman world, you found out there was an alien who was Superman, there would be a lot of shock. I mean, people should say, “Oh my God,” and maybe that would be the only fantastic thing. But to be honest with you, it’s not the intention at this point to figure out how to make that happen.

Of course, he’s not the only one feeling this. Robert Pattinson also had mixed feelings about it. “I think it’s hard enough, just for the two of us to be together. I do not know!”

Based on some of the answers to some of the questions, it feels like they considered the impact of adding Superman and Wonder Woman to The Batman. “I love the idea of trying to figure out how to do it…We talked about how to get the fantasy elements because Matt’s world, his perspective on it is so grounded, and I I’m like, ‘How can you add…? Like, we were talking the other day, like, ‘Can you add Superman but he just has no powers? He’s just a guy with a cape? He’s just like, ‘I’m Superman!’ And they’re like, ‘So?’

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reeves tested a longer version of The Batman that was nearly four hours long. It would be interesting to see what was removed from the final film.
