It’s that time of year again! Christmas is here and with the holiday season many gifts are given and received as we collectively warm up by the fireside. And for many, that means opening up one of the best Android tablets on the market today.
And it’s exciting because a brand new Android tablet placed under the tree opens up a world of apps, games, media and possibilities for you.
To help you get the most out of your new device, we’ve compiled a list of the 10 best games for Android tablets, some of which are known, some less so. These are all great games for all skill levels that should perform like fluff.
Whether you own the latest and greatest Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Plus or the Google Pixel Slate, as long as it’s not an iPad Air, iPad mini, or iPad Pro you’re in the right place. place to find the best games.
We’ve tried to look the distance, not just leaning on the AAA titles you’re familiar with, but also finding a balance to find the cream of the crop, regardless of developer. On top of that, we’ve also tried to offer a diverse selection – or as diverse as possible with just ten games.
So, let’s move on to the list of best T3 Android tablet games.
1. Alto’s Odyssey
We’re starting things off with a beauty: Alto’s Odyssey from veteran developers Noodlecake Studios, which has received nearly universal praise (including from Apple and Bafta).
The game is an endless “sandboarder”, with the character parading past beautiful and endless desert landscapes. The shift to a warmer climate is appropriate, as Alto’s first game, Alto’s Adventure, was a snowboarder.
The gameplay is incredibly smooth, while getting quite difficult at later levels, and the visuals are just stunning. We cannot fault anything.

You might have heard of this one …
The hit game, now owned by Microsoft, has exploded around the world, capturing the imaginations of creative teens and adults alike. The possibilities are pretty much endless and that’s what makes Minecraft the game it is.
Your Android tablet will have plenty of power and screen to show off Minecraft in all its glory. There is also a multiplayer mode with up to four friends on Xbox Live.
What better way to spend your lazy Christmas afternoons.

3. Final Fantasy VII
Sticking to AAA titles for a while, T3’s next recommendation in the Hall of Fame for Best Android Games is a doozy: Final Fantasy VII, a well-made port of the now legendary game series.
In VII, you take on the Shinra Electric Power Company and, well, the rest is up to you. There is fights, great dialogue and a lot of action to be done. It’s basically the same as the PC and console versions, except on your tablet.
One thing to note: Final Fantasy VII takes up a lot of space and needs a lot of oomph, so make sure your tablet is capable. According to Square Enix, you’ll need 4GB of free storage to get started.

4. Sky: children of light
Let’s get back to something a little more calming: the magnificent MMORPG that is Sky: Children of Light, which sees players travel through seven breathtaking realms to uncover hidden secrets, save spirits, and find ancient treasures.
The principle is quite simple: the stars have fallen and darkness has risen, creating a new home in the sky. You must awaken, Children of the Light, and return the universe to its righteous starlit wonder.
Both relaxing and intense, we love the visuals and the gameplay, with the added bonus that you can play alongside friends, family and strangers.

The developers behind GRIS describe the game as a “serene and evocative experience, without danger, frustration, or death” and, well, that’s fair enough. It’s an absolutely sensational game and we can’t recommend it enough.
You play as Gray, a hopeful young girl who is lost. Her painful journey is manifested through her flowing dress as you walk through beautiful scenery after beautiful scenery. Seriously, this game looks incredible.
As the game progresses, Gray begins the discovery herself, opening up new avenues to explore. We won’t spoil the game too much, but suffice to say you need it.

An award winning indie adventure game, we are thrilled with Limbo. Set almost entirely in a black and white world, the game is full of dark, hazy, haunting spaces that make for a truly interesting overall experience.
Almost everyone who plays the game loves it, with more five-star reviews than it’s worth. Each new level is beautifully unique and well designed, which makes progressing through the game particularly exciting.
Along the way, you will come across puzzles, monsters, and more. A fantastic way to spend a few hours.
Limbo is also available as part of the Google Play Pass subscription.

If you’ve become addicted to Euro 2020, we have the game for you: Football Manager 2021 Touch.
The name betrays the premise a bit, but the difficulty comes from the complexity of running a football team. Like its big siblings on PC and consoles, 2021 Touch has it all: 117 leagues from 52 footballing nations, thousands of players, and what looks like millions of decisions to be made.
Make sure you’re smart with transfers and delegate boring tasks, but beyond that, Football Manager invites you to play the way you want. Don’t be put off by early losses – it happens to the best of us.
The perfect way to spend Christmas afternoon, then every afternoon after before the 2022 World Cup.

8. Sword and witchcraft of the super-brothers
Another take on Noodlecake Studios (the first being Alto’s Odyssey), Superbrothers Sword & Sworcery – now known as S&S – has garnered equally stunning reviews and we believe the extremely pleasing visuals will appear on your new tablet.
The clues to what the gameplay of S&S offers are in the name: you cross new worlds accompanied by your trusty sword (for combat) and your sorcery (to solve mysteries). The combination of the two makes the gameplay dynamic and interesting and we certainly didn’t get bored during this game.
Are you ready to help a wandering warrior monk? We think so.

9. Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition
We haven’t featured so many 2D platformer games on the list, but that is changing with Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition, a great, high-intensity game that will suck you in with different and frustrating levels.
The design of the world, called Salt, is pleasantly old school, full of mystical creatures and endless spaces to explore. You can jump off walls, floor, ceiling, and pretty much anywhere to complete the mission.
And the Trails of Fear Edition adds three areas for you to explore, along with new bosses, powers, mechanics, music, and even a secret ending. Flight!
Dandara is also available as part of the Google Play Pass subscription.

10. Valley of the Stars
We thought we would end on a lighter note: Stardew Valley, the incredible RPG that took the world by storm, bringing the game of ConcernedApe to mobile.
Do you feel locked in the city? Stardew takes you to the countryside with over 50 hours of gameplay as you watch you take care of your farm, including tending the fields, raising animals, customizing your farm, starting a family, fishing, and more.
Stardew deserves all the praise it has received (and trust us, there is a lot) and we can see many happy hours being wasted putting your farm on top.
Stardew Valley is also available as part of the Google Play Pass subscription.
