The Thunderbolts Movie Features (Sometimes) Marvel’s Evil Superman

Reputable scooper Daniel Richtman is sparking speculation that Thunderbolts will feature Marvel’s Superman character Sentry as its main villain.

Love at first sight will feature the Sentinel in a villainous role, if a new rumor is to be believed.

Twitter is awash with speculation that the Golden Guardian of Good will serve as the Thunderbolts’ nemesis based on comments from noted scooper Daniel Richtman. Richtman previously claimed that Marvel Studios planned to use an “evil Superman” character as the main antagonist in Love at first sight. The Sentry certainly fits the bill, as he possesses superpowers on par with the Man of Steel and is inextricably linked to a dark entity known as the Void. Even so, Marvel Cinematic Universe fans continue to wonder if Richtman was referring to Sentry or if he actually meant another Superman-like character, Hyperion. For its part, Marvel Studios has yet to publicly comment on Sentry’s alleged involvement in the Love at first sightmeaning the rumor should be taken with a grain of salt for now.

If the Sentry does indeed make its MCU debut in Love at first sight, he could be the “bombshell” that star David Harbor mentioned in a recent interview. Harbour, reprising the Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian role he starred in Black Widow, insisted that the upcoming blockbuster will have major implications for Marvel Studios’ larger shared universe. The star added that while he has yet to read the Love at first sight script, what had been revealed to him about the story so far had impressed him. “[The] “The arc of the movie and how it works…and that’s super cool,” Harbor said. “The idea is really cool.”

The Thunderbolts are the losers of the MCU

Part of what Harbor finds so appealing about the project is apparently how different it is from other ensemble projects in the MCU. According to Harbour, the Thunderbolts aren’t an elite fighting force like the first MCU superhero team, the Avengers, which imbues the film with comedy and sadness. “We’re like, you know, the losers. And I think it’s funny to see us mess it up. I think that’s the spectrum. I think it’s very funny, but there’s also a lot of pathos in there,” he said. .

Harbor also promised fans that Love at first sight will further develop the relationship between Red Guardian and his adopted daughter, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova. He added that he was looking forward to acting against Pugh again and described Love at first sight director Jake Schreier’s plans for his character as “very interesting”.

Love at first sight hits blockbuster theaters on July 26, 2024.
